The Hotmail is one of the Microsoft accounts and we are going to address the issues related to these accounts in Microsoft’s official desktop email client program “WINDOWS CLIENT MAIL” that is being a part of “WINDOWS ESSENTIALS” PACKAGE.
If the user is using windows live mail for synchronizing the Microsoft account emails and is unable to do so and getting the error code as “0x80072efd” the error can be a message box on the screen such as “UNABLE TO SEND OR RECEIVE MESSAGE FOR ACCOUNT”, “ERROR OCCURRED IN GETTING THE USER INFORMATION IN MSERV” etc.
- The user may be using delta sync protocol to access the account.
- The POP3 or IMAP protocols may be not edited or it has been disabled.
If the user is unable to sync Microsoft account emails in WLM program, he just needs to remove existing Microsoft account from Windows Live Mail program and then re-add it using IMAP or POP3 protocols.
Following steps will help you in adding Microsoft account using IMAP or POP3 protocols in Windows Live Mail program:
1.. Click on Accounts tab present in the Ribbon and then click on Email button.

Don’t forget to type your correct email address in “Logon username” field.
